Originally posted at David Horowitz’s Newsreal:A Muslim Disneyland Resort hotel employee, Imane Boudlal, has filed a complaint with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission over Disney’s refusal to let her wear a hijab in front of customers. Now, the Council on American-Islamic Relations is involved, and they’re crying religious discrimination. But is it? Unfortunately for CAIR and Boudlal, the case isn’t quite so cut and dried. This seems to be yet another case of Muslim bullying, this time at the happiest place on Earth.Boudlal, and her extremist friends at CAIR, are busily spinning the truth about her employment with Disney to...

Check out this cartoon submitted by an anonymous cartoonist to iOwnTheWorld. If you haven't heard Disney is dealing with a controversy with an employee who is Muslim woman over wearing her head scarf (hijab). Disneyland says she has to follow their dress code and lose the hijab, and she says no. I can appreciate the first amendment religious freedom rational here, but if the first amendment were really the issue here then dress codes everywhere should be abolished for oppressing speech. Bottom line, Disney is a private company and there are A LOT of other places this woman can...

Sources at rival studios tell me that Disney's Sorcerer's Apprentice made about $3.7 million today from 3,385 theaters in the U.S. and Canada. That makes for a 5-day projection of less than $30M, and one studio predicted only $20+M, which is extremely disappointing for the costly Jerry Bruckheimer tentpole starring Nic Cage, and much less than even the low-ball $35M which Hollywood thought it could make. But I'd been following the pic's tracking, which at no point hinted at a blockbuster.

LOS ANGELES — Ilene Woods, the voice of Cinderella in Disney’s animated classic, has died. She was 81. Ms. Woods died Thursday of causes related to Alzheimer’s disease at a nursing home, her husband, Ed Shaughnessy, told the Los Angeles Times. Ms. Woods was an 18-year-old radio singer in 1948 when she recorded a demo for an upcoming Disney feature. Costs Down 7 Percent From 2008-2009LONDON -- Like millions of her subjects, Queen Elizabeth II is going to have to make do and mend - cutting spending and putting off palace repairs as royal finances are squeezed by Britain's budget crisis. Lawyers representing a stroke victim who claims the stroke was caused by Walt Disney World’s Twilight Zone Tower of Terror have asked for a new trial, a week after an Orange County jury decided there was nothing unsafe about the attraction. Lawyers for Marvin Cohen, a now-80-year-old man who said he was injured after riding the Disney-MGM Studios (now Disney’s Hollywood Studios) attraction in 1998, argue that jury members were given inadequate instructions before they began deliberations. Cohen’s team says Orange County Circuit Judge Jose Rodriguez should have permitted the jury to consider a general negligence claim – rather than...

During the 2008 Presidential campaign, "mainstream" media confused the public over whether Obama ever released any real proof of his claim to being born in Hawaii. The confusion continues. Jonathan Alter, senior editor at Newsweek magazine, told MSNBC's Keith Olbermann on February 20, 2009 that "The Obama campaign actually posted his birth certificate from a Hawaii hospital online." But Alter lied, since "the Obama campaign" never "actually posted his birth certificate from a Hawaii hospital online." Remarkably, no hospital in Hawaii yet lays definitive claim to be the birthplace of the sitting President. .. On the FactCheck.org website, the claim...

As the buzz surrounding Tron Legacy continues to grow - an impressive feat, considering the film itself isn't even due out until December - Disney is reportedly putting the pieces in place for a sequel already. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the studio has given Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz the job of coming up with a script for what'd be a third Tron movie. This isn't dissimilar to the tactics that Warner Bros employed with Sherlock Holmes last year, when work on a second movie had begun even before the first had been seen. The upside of the gamble,...

Staff at Disneyland Paris, the most popular tourist attraction in Europe, are considering industrial action to improve their working conditions after the suicides of three employees since the start of the year. Guy-Bruno Mboe, leader of a Disneyland union, has blamed the latest two deaths on “brutal” working conditions. “It’s all about profit, profit, profit,” said Mboe. “The combination of fewer staff and demands for more productivity just pushed this poor man over the edge.” The directors of the resort denied that the suicide of an employee in his home on March 26 had anything to do with his working...

There's nothing more annoying that being a 40-year-old serious actress trapped in a manufactured teen idol's body and facing nothing but pithy criticism from idiotic entertainment reporters and critics. And so it is that Miley Cyrus, in a new interview with Reuters, has made it known that she demands respect. Thanks to a new movie -- "The Last Song," which promises loads of schlock and yawn -- the Disney-groomed dynamo is in the midst of a press rampage. She has, in fact, been all up in our Celebritological faces for the past week or so, beginning with an uninspiring short-shorts-clad...

Gino the gorilla knows the drill. He reaches way up with his left hand and puts his right hand out to the side. When his keeper asks, he pushes his right leg out and presses his left thigh and chest against the crisscrossed bars of his enclosure. He knows that striking this unusual pose — it looks like an upright round of Twister — earns him a treat. He doesn’t know that the ultrasound machine rolled up to the bars will collect information that could help gorillas beyond his Disney’s Animal Kingdom home. The animal-programs team at Walt Disney World...
